How CFH works with those around us - for the common good.

To us, community means not only our internal community of staff and clients but the people and businesses around us.

In 2017 we launched our ‘Seeds of Change’ programme which is run by a committee of self-electing employee representatives. The committee make executive decisions about health and wellbeing initiatives as well as fundraising.

Seeds of Change

To date, initiatives have included:

  • Payroll Giving scheme - We are pleased to say that within weeks of launching we were awarded the Government Gold Payroll Giving Quality Mark.

  • Reading support - We hear children at the local primary school read during our lunch break over 1,000 times a year.

I wanted to thank you and all your volunteers for the amazing job you have all done with the children and their reading. They have all made such great progress and it has boosted their confidence as well as developing their social skills.

This has been down to the organisation by you... and it has had such a positive impact on the children

  • "Fantastic Futures" - We have created an entrepreneurship project as part of the annual careers event for primary school leavers. Children get to create a business and marketing plan and become entrepreneurs for the day, pitching their products and competing for a top prize.

  • "The Great Step Challenge" - A hotly competed step challenge that sees employee teams compete over a three month period, in 2018 the challenge took us right around the world with over 42 million steps accumulated across the months!

  • Charity of the Year - Every year, our three sites vote for their ‘Charity of the Year’. These charities are then the main focus of fundraising events like The Bath Half Marathon, sponsored skydiving and bake sales.

    Charities include:
Dorothy House Hospice and Dogs Trust.

We put the environment first…

You may be a customer, employee or supplier but to CFH that means you are also a neighbour. Being a good neighbour is central to CFH and all that we do. On a national and local level, we have an ongoing commitment to supporting the communities that we operate in to better understand how to look after our environment.

  • Trees - Over the last 20 years we’ve planted 115,000 trees.

  • Solar energy - We run 400 kW solar roof panels which in the summer provide all of the electricity required to run our site.

  • Research - We have partnered with the University of West England for a knowledge transfer project which has resulted in recycling and reduction initiatives for all water, waste, energy and paper use. Our white papers have been published nationally and share best practice policies on how companies can reduce their carbon footprint while delivering savings straight to their bottom line.

  • Certified - We are FSC, PEFC and ISO 14001 certified for our environmental management systems to ensure every sheet of paper we use has been sustainably sourced.

  • Winners! - We’ve been awarded for our environmental commitment named the South West Environmental Business of The Year and South West Responsible Business In the Community and recognised for Environmental Best Practice of the Year.

  • We are a member of Two Sides UK - Two Sides UK is a not-for-profit organisation that's on a mission to promote the sustainable and attractive attributes of print, paper and paper packaging.
