On Sunday 21st of September, a determined group from our Radstock site laced up their walking boots and took on the 20-mile Bath charity walk in aid of Julian House.
Representing teams across IT, marketing and payroll, the walk once again brought together colleagues from different corners of the business. As always, what started as a physical challenge soon became a shared experience of teamwork, enjoyment and determination – uniting everyone in support of one brilliant cause.
This wasn’t the first time CFH colleagues have taken part in the challenge, but unlike last year’s wet and windy ordeal, the 2025 edition was blessed with clear skies and warm autumn sunshine. Friends and family also joined for the trek, making for a lively and supportive group atmosphere.
The route began bright and early at 7:30am from Newbridge Park & Ride. Within the first stretch, participants were already tackling some steep inclines – a tough introduction to Bath’s famously hilly terrain. Waypoints included the Kingswood Upper Sports Pavilion and The George Inn, before the team reached the Canal Visitor Centre in Limpley Stoke just in time for a well-deserved lunch.
Energised but feeling the miles, the group pushed on through the afternoon, with the final challenge being a steady climb towards Saint Gregory’s Sixth Form before looping back to the Park & Ride for the finish.
The day offered plenty of highlights - sweeping views from Solsbury Hill, picturesque villages dotted along the route, and even the unexpected treat of a few roadside bake sales. Of course, no adventure would be complete without its challenges – a couple of wrong turns, rocky terrain, sore feet, and even encounters with cows (and one loose bull!) tested the team’s resolve. But spirits stayed high throughout, with plenty of laughs along the way.
In total, the walkers spent just over nine hours on the circuit, including a one-hour lunch break, clocking up an average of 54,000 steps each. By the end, there were tired legs all round, but also a huge sense of achievement.
This year’s effort raised around £750 for Julian House – vital funds that will support their work across the South West, from helping adults and young people experiencing homelessness, to supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, those leaving prison, and adults with learning difficulties.
Congratulations to our Walking Wanderers team for another fantastic effort, both in completing the challenging course and in raising money for such an important cause. If you have any suggestions for future charity challenges, please get in touch at marketing@cfh.com.
