At the end of May, Serena Schofield, CFH Business Development Manager, will be taking on the AJ Bell Manchester Half Marathon in support of Bowel Cancer UK.
Serena is raising money for a cause incredibly close to her heart, as her sister is currently battling bowel cancer. The race serves as a way to help raise awareness of a disease that affects thousands of people and families every year.
sUPPORTING A WORTHY CHARITY
Bowel Cancer UK are the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. Their mission is to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. With their vision of a future where nobody dies of the disease.
Through her fundraising efforts, Serena hopes to help the charity continue its vital work in funding research into early detection, improving access to treatments, and increasing awareness of bowel cancer symptoms to help save lives. Donations also provide essential support and information to thousands of people affected by bowel cancer, including patients and their families.
aN INSPIRATIONAL CAUSE
Speaking about her motivation for taking part, Serena said:
“Watching my sister battle this awful disease over the past few months has been incredibly tough, but she has shown more courage, strength and determination than I ever thought possible. She is a true warrior, and I am so unbelievably proud of her.”
“I can't take away what she's going through or make her better, but this is my way of giving something back and supporting her as much as I can in raising funds for this amazing charity.”
RAISING AWARENESS
This isn’t Serena’s first endurance challenge during her time at CFH. She took on the 2024 AJ Bell Great North Run, completing the circuit in an impressive 1 hour and 47 minutes.
Serena’s challenge this time is not only a personal milestone, but also an opportunity to raise awareness and support for those impacted by bowel cancer.
We wish her all the luck as she takes on the Half Marathon - a huge physical and mental challenge that reflects the determination, resilience and commitment she is putting behind this important cause.
Anyone wishing to support Serena and donate to the cause can do so here. We look forward to cheering her on!
